Union President Writes to the Members on March 4, 2022

Our proposals for a renewed collective agreement are the outcome of extensive consultations with our members. We expect them to be taken seriously – it is not enough to simply answer, »no, we don’t discuss it.”

The university president said on the radio that he considers the current collective agreement to be “mature,” suggesting that there is no need for change. We believe otherwise. The highly-qualified and dynamic new professors whom we had recruited have almost all abandoned Sainte-Anne for other universities where teaching and research conditions are much better. This is only one among many symptoms of dysfunction: there is room for improvement.

If the Board of Governors disagrees with our proposals for strengthening the university, we ask that they explain why and suggest alternatives.
