A message to our students

Dear Students,

We are writing to tell you that, unfortunately, the professors and librarians who are members of the faculty union APPBUSA will be on a legal strike beginning at 8:30 a.m., Thursday, March 3. After more than fifty hours of meetings during which the union tried to negotiate with the administration, courses will be suspended and your professors will no longer be available to you for consultation or to answer questions having to do with coursework.

Our dearest wish is that the administration will return to the bargaining table to make serious counter-propositions in response to those that we have put forward. On behalf of all of our members, we are negotiating for working conditions that would be more equitable and would better support consistent delivery of high-quality courses. We are the fourth Canadian university in 2022 – after Acadia, Lethbridge, and Ontario Tech – which is witnessing professors and librarians renounce their salaries and benefits in order to strike to support demands for better teaching and learning conditions.
